“And please remember me and do me a favor when things go well for you. Mention me to Pharaoh, so he might let me out of this place. For I was kidnapped from my homeland, the land of the Hebrews, and now I’m here in prison, but I did nothing to deserve it.” Pharaoh’s chief cup-bearer, however, forgot all about Joseph, never giving him another thought.
The greatest challenge to human being is the limitation of the natural senses in this physical realm. As much as many would like to live by faith, yet the challenges of the natural senses are there. That is why the bible said, we should keep renewing our mind, so that we can find it easy to think as God thinks and live by faith in Him (Romans 12:2).
Today’s bible text was about Joseph while he was still in prison. He placed a lot of hope in the Pharaoh’s cupbearer but the man never remembered him until after two full years, when God has determined to lift him into glory (Genesis 41:1). In fact, how could Joseph, a man of faith placed his hope of getting out of prison on a man?
Well, it was just a moment of his humanity. Yet, he learnt his lesson. The man forgot him for two full years. Much of human failures and disappointment is because we make choices and create expectations around people and not God.
Therefore, the Prophets spoke by the Holy Spirit that, “Thus saith the Lord ; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord . For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited. (Jeremiah 17:5-6KJV)”
Fortunately, the man eventually remembered Joseph and recommended Joseph before Pharaoh, but not until God remembered Joseph by Himself. Man cannot do anything for you if it is not commanded by God. Therefore, whatever we desire, let us ask God and look forward to any door He will open with earnest expectation and free mind.
The scripture wrote about Joseph as if God intentionally let him stay longer in the prison until he fully trusted in Him. How long is that going to take you too? You need to repent, refocus and place your faith in God alone, and you shall not be disappointed. He will remove the veil for your help to locate you today in Jesus name.
