Seek first the kingdom
Golden Text: Matthew 6:24-25.
“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Therefore, I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?”
One thing about the ambassador of a nation to another nation is that he enjoys double privilege from his country and the country he is an ambassador to but that is only possible if he displays himself as a good ambassador!
The feeding, cares and everything about an ambassador should not be his concern or his worry because as a right, it has to be taken care of by his nation. The ambassador does not have to take thoughts of tomorrow or worry over the cares of this world because it is taken care.
For this reason, Jesus said that we must not take thought of tomorrow or worry about what to eat or what to wear or where we will live because those are things that has been prepared and packed into the appointment of kingdom ambassador.
To this reason, Jesus was communicating in Matthew 6:33 to seek first the kingdom. Promote the interest and advancement of the kingdom with all your might, strength and resources and that is what opens you up to the unlimited provisions in the kingdom.
Many will pierce themselves with sorrow by seeking their own interest first ahead of the kingdom. This is the cause of lack and hardship. Once you pursue your own interest, you pay your bills yourself but if you seek first the interest of the kingdom, the kingdom pays your bills!
To every activities of God and his purpose on earth, he has designed men to be part of the written script from the foundation of the world.
God is a God of purpose and as such He has eternal purpose for everything He ever created. Even evil has its purpose and darkness has its purpose. It was the darkness at work in the heart of Men that made them crucify the Lord Jesus but never knew that they were releasing abundant of life through the death of the saviour. The enemy never knew they were shooting themselves by crucifying the Lord of glory! They wept bitterly in hell because principalities were disarmed and they were brought into public disgrace and open shame.
The question we need to ask ourselves is that if the eternal purpose of God is this powerful that even those who directly opposed it were used to fulfill something written in the scriptures, how well do the citizen of the kingdom think that if they seek their own interest they can please the king of the kingdom? If God designed His kingdom in such a way that nothing can stand against it, shouldn’t you be careful of seeking the kingdom of *gold* ahead the kingdom of *God*? Shouldn’t you be careful of chasing after *gold* in the world when you are supposed to be after God in the word?
When you chase the kingdom of gold and leave the kingdom of God, you will lose both the kingdom of gold and the kingdom of God. But if you will operate by the economy of Matthew 6:33 and seek after the kingdom of God, Kingdom of gold will submit themselves to you.
God is never happy with those who does not gather with him. In fact, He said if you don’t gather with Him, you are scattering and that place you directly into the position of the enemy of God!
Lord I want to keep your kingdom in my focus always.
