Focus on the things of the Spirit.
Bible text: Romans 8:5.
“For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit”
Setting your focus on the things of the Spirit is not abstract. If there is any time we need to extrapolate on the subject, it is now.
We are the generation of those who are in the end of the age. Therefore, we should be sure we are watching and praying.
Mathew 24:36-39 “”No one knows when that day or hour will come—not the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father, because just as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be when the Son of Man comes. In those days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage right up to the day when Noah went into the ark. They were unaware of what was happening until the flood came and swept all of them away. That’s how it will be when the Son of Man comes”
The people in Noah’s day didn’t know that the flood is coming because they were focused on the things of the flesh or carnality. They were focused on family ties, trade, fun, drunkenness, sensuality and preoccupied with businesses. But Noah focused on the things of the Spirit, thus he escaped the doom of his age.
When we focus on the things of the Spirit, we will not be unaware of the move of God. Instead of fighting, we would be running after peace. Whatever the demand, we would be pursuing holiness, love and peace.
If there is anytime to get at the kingdom’s business, it is now. I hope you can hear the sound of the trumps that the Master is nearer.
This is the time to take your giftings and callings personal. This is the time to seek the Lord continuously. We must be found focusing on the things of the Spirit so that we can avoid being trapped by the Spirit of the age.
This is time to be different, stand for the truth, skip hypocrisy and dwell in the light of the Spirit. This is not time to give up on God. He is all you have gotten. Your hope in times of danger. This is not the time to focus on the world’s news but on the kingdom’s gospel. God has a better news for us. He has a plan that we need to know about. So, it is time to focus on Jesus Christ.
Whatever your challenge, carry your cross and follow Him. Trust His ability and grace, and you shall not be disappointed.
Prayer Point: Father, I receive grace to set my focus on you in Jesus name.
